Yara selected ETH Group as Safety Contractor of the Year 2025

During the annual shutdown, a large number of partners worked at the plant. The shutdown was successfully completed on schedule, and ETH had zero accidents.

ETH Group’s investments in safety in recent years are clearly reflected in the improved safety of installation and maintenance work. ETH recorded no accidents during the shutdown and organized additional safety briefings for its personnel, which received positive feedback. In addition, visits and reports from our safety coordinator were well received.

“A zero-accident shutdown requires thorough preparation and planning from both Yara and its partners,” says Tuomo Mäkilä, HSEQ Manager responsible for safety at Yara. During the annual shutdown at Yara’s Uusikaupunki production site, ETH Group’s scope of work included safety valve maintenance, repair welding and other demanding maintenance tasks.

“A great achievement. A lot of work has been done to develop our safety culture, and as we say, everyone should come to work and return home healthy,” comments ETH Project Director Marko Weman.

Project Manager Joonas Mäkeläinen agrees and praises ETH’s personnel for their attitude towards safety: “It has become part of who we are. Education and working life continuously emphasize safety, and that is a good thing. The safety culture has clearly evolved.”

“Safety is our top priority at Yara. The most important thing is that everyone returns home in the same condition as when they arrived at work,” says Maintenance Manager Esa Viitanen from Yara at the award ceremony.
